I have scratch built two more paddle steamers for my games of Blood Sweat & Iron, I have put up a post on my site of how I did them. Not great when you look real close, but useable in my games. link

My only thought would be to drybrush your decks to a light grey or maybe very light brown or tan. Wooden decks bleach out in the sun. These were not very good looking ships in real life, kind of ramshackle looking. There is only so much you can do! |

Lonely Gamer, If you are having trouble finding good pictures of the ships, you might ask here. Yeah, I'd ignore you if you asked for pictures of all the ships in both navies in one post, but you are doing them two or three at a time, and for that many, I think people might help you out with. Not being as energetic as you, I didn't make my own ships: I bought the Richard Houston ships. I was inspired by having flown over many of the rivers of the American South, and tried to paint the bases a brownish green, just the way the rivers looked from 30,000 feet. I'm glad to see you didn't try this, because it looked like the ships had run aground on a mud bank. Anyway, I find the riverine actions of the American Civil War to be quite interesting, so keep up the good work! Grelber |

@Tortorella thank you I might try that and see how it looks. @Grelber I will maybe give a shout out on here for the odd picture or two when I try my next ships. Painting the bases took me a while to get right ( well right for me ) my first bases were very blue! I am loving gaming the ACW river actions as well, they are lots of fun. Mac |
