Looking around most ranges of Anglo Saxons seem to be aimed at " Age of Arthur" 4-5th century or latter Viking age/ Anglo Danish. If one wanted to recreate Anglo Saxons for the wars of Penda, Ine and Offa what range of 28mm miniatures would be a good place to start? Any help gratefully received. |

I would select from the early or late Saxon ranges. I'm sure somebody used to do a Middle Saxon range.
Essex have an old range from 617 – 1014 AD link
BTD have at least a King set plus a few troops that would pass muster link
Warlord have a few in their Saxon range plus their plastics link |

Crusader and Gripping Beast have nice ranges of early Saxons that you could pick from. |

I went for the Gripping Beast plastics. What's missing from them are some saexs to add to the warriors and a few more helmets. It's very hard to get appropriate mid Saxons. Those odd short sleeved coats appear on too Many figures…. |
