I am in the process of reading this book now. Excellent. And dispels a lot of myths about the British Army during the AWI. link Has anyone else read this book? |

I am getting it today. His other book on the British Army was very good. He is also a very nice person. He is the managing editor for JAR so I have had the pleasure of corresponding with him. I recommend this book by him as well: link |

My wargaming buddy Steve H just loaned me his copy. Will start it shortly. He thoroughly enjoyed it, being an American Revolution scholar himself with a biography of Colonel William Washington to his credit. Jim |

Don is given a talk on his book tomorrow on ZOOM to our hobby org (British re-enactors). I am trying to finish it before the talk. Don is indeed a very nice person and a great lecturer. We are lucky as a few weeks ago we got a talk from Prof Greg Urwin, "From Parade Ground to Battlefield: How the British Army Adapted to War in North America, 1775-1783." He did this talk for C-Span too. I'll see if I can find the link he sent me for that and post here. The original version of the talk given at the Museum of the American Revolution on October 4, 2019, is available at the C-SPAN website: British Army and the Revolutionary War, 1775-1783 | C-SPAN.org (c-span.org) |

historygamer, Id like to see the Parade Ground to Battlefield talk if you can share. Also, are you by chance in Eastern, PA? I was wondering if you have any inside information on when they might open Washingtons HQ at Valley Forge before I make the drive there. |

No word yet. It is an NPS facility. They were redoing the Visitor Center, and I would suspect are behind on that due to the pandemic. I think it was supposed to be shut for 18 months, and that was two years ago, IIRC. I know there was some filming that was supposed to take place there earlier this month, but that was cancelled due to Covid. When they do open, they have a new film they show. I'm in it. I play von Steuben's aid that translates to English. LoL |

Let me see if I can post a link to Prof Urwin's talk. If anyone has any questions for Don Hagist, let me know, as I am moderating the ZOOM talk tomorrow. This should be the link: link |

Thank you. I did not know about the redo on the visitor center. I recall it being very small last time I was there, like 2001 maybe. A speaking role in an NPS movie means you have obviously arrived at legendary status, LOL. Seriously, that is pretty cool. I'll be sure to catch the film once they let us in again. |

No speaking part (well, maybe in the background of the narrator when outside the huts), but a full blooming close up inside Washington's HQ while I am writing and translating Herr General's orders. LoL |

HG; Thank you for your review of this book. It's now on my To Be Purchased list. Hope the British Brigade has a great season confounding the Rebels. My best to you, sir. Eric |

An interesting gallop through the subject, although it occurs to me to suggest someone let Prof Urwin know that the nickname for light infantry was pronounced with the emphasis "Light bobs" rather than "light Bobs." |

Don Hagist's next book will be on the Lights and Grenadiers. Oh, can't wait! |
