Beautiful, but what is with the poster/portrait on the 4 inch casemate? Uboat.net and Wikipedia pictures of the ship both show it, but don't mention it. |

I get seasick just looking at her. What a great modeling job. |

Perfect, except it is not made at the water line. Says a war gamer. |

I've been enamored by the Flower class corvettes lately, especially after reading "The Cruel Sea". I ordered the 1/144 version of the same kit (the one in the pictures is the 1/72 version). It will be the biggest ship model I've ever worked on. The Flower class corvettes were very "wet" ships. I've read one comment that it is actually unnatural to see them with nothing below the waterline showing! |

Well done. Hats off to the builder/creator of this beautifully evocative model. B |

Beautiful, but what is with the poster/portrait on the 4 inch casemate? Uboat.net and Wikipedia pictures of the ship both show it, but don't mention it. From what I could find, it was common for the ship's emblem/badge to be displayed as artwork on the shield of the 4 inch gun in an effort to build morale and a sense of identity. The Sackville had Daffy Duck, Summerside had Mickey Mouse, Shawnigan a bulldog and Calgary had a cartoon gunslinger or something. More information and artwork here: link |
