Remembering Marx WOW Figures

If you were a kid in the 1960s who loved history and toy soldiers, you probably had a WOW figure!

Here are some pictures of some Fife and Drum Miniatures British Guards in a diorama that I set up in my game room. The game mat is from Cigar Box Battles, the terrain and buildings made by HG Walls. Click on the link to my blog for more pictures:

Darn Pennsylvania Tories, cheering the Redcoats on!
Harrumph.

Do you mean those loyal subjects giving a loud huzzah for the stout soldiers of their rightfully anointed King?

Great work as always!

Of course like many civilians at this time I'm sure they cheered whoever was marching by.

Very nicely painted figures, as usual.

The center company Guards wearing pimp hats are also suitable for Loyalist units.

What, pray, is this 'pimp hat' thing?

epturner23 Mar 2021 5:50 p.m. PST

42flanker;
Please…don't ask… you really DON'T want to know…

<ahem>

My word- gosh. Don't I? Very well, then. 'Mum's the word'…

A long time ago, I quoted a DeLancey reenactor who in his presentation was wearing a standard tricorne. He said that he had a "pimp hat", as depicted in Mollo.
Basically, a "pimp hat" is a plumed slouch hat with the brim turned up. Shoot, even Boers can be said to wear pimp hats.
The controversy has never died. Not that it bothers me.

Eric has never forgiven me, although he will eat my chili (reluctantly) and will drink my beer.

'Tricorne'? How dare you!

historygamer29 Mar 2021 3:59 p.m. PST

Wasn't gonna say it🙄
