I speed-painted up the Dutch for Camperdown this past week. About 20 ships, mostly contrast paints.

They look good but why did you paint the flash between the main and foremasts?

Luvvly!

Commander Kevin, thanks for the kind words. Regarding the flash between the main and fore masts, I believe that is a stylized pennant sculpted on the ships that also acts as a support between the two masts. If you go to the Forged in Battle website, you can see the pennants painted in the same manner: link

Great work. I've a bunch myself (although I've not done the Dutch) and the work is first rate.

McKinstry, I've seen pics of yours and they are outstanding. Used them as inspirational eye candy when painting mine. You and I have played a lot of those Friday night naval games at the HMGS conventions, you've had the misfortune of playing on the same (typically losing) side as me too many of those games. I'm a terrible admiral but always have fun!

Look great. I have painted the Dutch myself in this series but I like yours better.

As I recall, you still look like Nelson compared to me. I still remember getting the French flagship at IIRC the Chesapeake blown up without getting to fire a shot. ;-(

Oh, they look fantastic – I really must paint up my 1/2400 stuff but I find them far too intimidating. This is a wee bit of inspiration to get my backside into gear!

Prince Albert's Revenge, I watched a game of FOTAW at Historicon21 and got Brian Dewitt's contact information. Were you at Historicon21? If so, wanted to say thanks as I have purchased the rules, a Cigarbox Hex Map and the FIB British Fleet, printed bases using my 3d printer, and am ready to start painting. Have played several solitaire games and one game with three friends using WS&IM pieces. Love the game and am looking forwarding to introducing others to FOTAW. Mike

Excellently done. I especially like the way you painted the shroud/ratline elements in shades of gray. This lessens their visual impact when viewed from a distance, as on real ships, this element wasn't that noticeable.

excellent work!
