So after watching "For All Mankind" I took the plunge and ordered some vac suited 15mm minis from Ground Zero Games for some "Moongrunt-ish" style skirmish games. Maybe more of an exploration themed idea than a hard Moongrunt game. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for Lunar surface beasties in 15mm to give my astronauts a fright? |

Spiders from Apollo 18. Scary. |

You will find the Moongrunt figures are a fair bit larger than most 15mm ranges (but I still love them) so 'fantastical' may be the way to go. Spiders / ants are obvious targets (sorry) Rock golems Grey aliens / Octopod aliens Giant worms (esp VNT35/VNT36 from Alternative Armies) Maybe some of the Japanese monsters from AA (I love the idea of chasing folk around with SGF81 figures) Possible any lizard folk Giant plants / creeping red weed Check out the space pods / spores from CP models to say nothing of the carnosaurs and medusharks for 'off-the-wall' beasts. For a long running human vs aliens look at the Vanguard Grudd who where happily stripping the moon of its resources till those pesky kids – sorry – humans came along. Their Tzacol look great but only have one set of figures so far. Brigade have a pack of alien creatures – the green worm thing is ace but you would be limited to one pose without conversion. Obviously anything can be used if you find the secret entrance to the underground caverns that honestly do not exist in the crater to the left of the landing zone (honestly – nothing to see, just move along). I always fancied a space dragon but could never work the flying aspect in my mind… |

Blue Moon makes some nifty aliens of various sorts, although their lines are limited. They have a large variety of races, but within each race, you can generally only get basic infantry. I've been toying with the idea of getting some fine electrical wire (like you find inside a lamp cord) and twisting it into humanoid shapes to make something like the Mimics from "Edge of Tomorrow" and "Battle: Las Angeles". |

Forgot the magmites from Frostgrave – big big monsters :-) Rebel Minis have some 'nice' bugs Khurasan Klors are odd (and need 'air'), slimee are fun, furrobots traditional, Plutonian guys angry and Munchers cute – sure I've missed a few For a smile how about Greenwood Tatens or mice? East Ridings Miniatures have some neat giant newts in their fantasy frog range that could work as could the cave trolls and chaos creepers / crawlers. Been thinking about 'air' – just because the figures are in suits it does not mean there is no atmosphere to breathe – it may be poisonous to humans or only exist in the bottom of deep craters (remember there are NO secret underground lairs holding Ironclad Miniatures 'German' grubs). |

Guys! Thanks a bunch. These are all really great ideas. I guess sky's the limit really when it comes to the moon. Khurasan Klors are odd… I couldn't find these on the Khurusan site. |

As there is no atmosphere on the Moon, I would expect to find beasties in caves or other places where they can breathe and be protected from radiation. |

Yes, that was my plan Oberlindes. And I just found the Klorr figures you spoke of Andrew. |

Personally I've always liked GZGs Ixx but they are more sentient than beastie. |

There were some that looked like a cross between scorpions and earwigs, but I can't recall who made those. They looked pretty neat and scary. |
