It's a lightened M60 version with a belt feed coming from a backpack 500 round ammo can. This would be very effective in jungles and close-quarter combat.

Beneath the ammo can is an air bladder. I guess to cushion the weight. It can't be more than what guys are carrying in the Mid-East, including up to 25 pounds of body armor. I imagine they'd strap it to a radio backpack board. It looks like the same setup the helicopter door gunners used, the M23 armament subsystem. I wonder why he's carrying a thermite grenade. Maybe to destroy the gun and system in case he needs to dump it? Wolfhag |
