Very interesting. I've met First Lieutenant Jefferson DeBlanc and First Lieutenant James E. Swett and heard them recount their experiences. DeBlanc was shot down and recovered by some local islanders. The Marines arranged to trade a 10-pound bag of rice to get DeBlanc back. I guess that was the going rate for Lieutenants at the time.
