I am experimenting with maximum sized armies, trimming points where ever possible. This was heavily influenced by podcasts put out by Tim Porter, the Mad AxeMan. He invited his crew to come up with practical Hoplite armies that can actually win on the table. Most stressed mediocre troops and some included commanders, and got armies out there with 18 or more Hoplites and breakpoints over 25. It's Greece vs Rome in this L' Art de la Guerre game. link

Well, that should have been Greek ambition nets them a spanking or giant rocks keep falling on my head. Send those hoplites back to basic training. The Romans were not impressed with your Greek greeting one bit, speak Latin we can't understand you. Are all the armies 15mm or do you do larger scales also? How many points do you usually use? |

I have 25's. Anglo-Irish, Byzantines, Islamic Persians, Later Polish, Greeks. They don't see the table very often. But we did have a tourney last year and I published the AAR's in January. They are: A Kerfuffle With the Khazars link A Carol of Franks link And Avec Armenia link The standard game is 200 points. There are rules to adapt to 100 points, about equal to a DBA game, 120 points, for just a little bit more, 300 points with 4 commanders, and 400 points. |

"That should have been Greek ambition nets them a spanking or giant rocks keep falling on my head." Maybe the idea is not to tell us the result in the title. I like Phil's simple alliterative titles. When I see them I immediately know it will be one of his. |

All I know is it's all Greek to me. |

John E. I try to randomize the winner/loser with the title's. Most often, I use my opponents army as the title because it's less repetitive. |
