I've been reorganizing my 15mm ACW forces and have been trying to group units by theater and year using uniforms and flags. I have a unit with an older commercial Confederate flag that I simply haven't been able to identify. It looks like the Bonnie Blue Flag, but has a yellow star rather than a white one and a wide white border around the blue field. I figure it's a state flag or special flag, but haven't found it in the resources I've consulted (including some rather frustrating Google Image searches).

Anyone know what flag this is?

I don't really know, but could it be the Repulic of West Florida? I hear that they also used a variation of the Bonnie blue flag

Can you post us a picture of the flag? That might help in identifying it.

See TMP link for details on how to post pictures to TMP.

I would be likely to agree with BW1959. From the description it could be West Florida revived as a Mississippi flag.

It might be a poor representation of the flag of Co A, 5th Virginia infantry. The Marion Rifles flag had a white star on a blue field with gold fringes. The star had the state arms in the centre on one side and an eagle on the other side. In the past I could find several online images of this flag, but now the only one I could locate is here:

Here's a photo of the flag:

And here's a different flag which I think is either an Alabama state flag or a Mississippi state flag (the blue field one):

Which state is it?

The second flag looks like an incomplete representation of the flag of Co. B, 3rd Florida Infantry.

The first flag with the gold star is an Alabama State Flag.

The second flag looks like it has a magnolia on it. That would argue for Mississippi

I appreciate the responses. Another interpretation for the second flag is it is a representation of a cotton plant. This also could be either Alabama or Mississippi.

By the way I came across a wonderful reference for Alabama flags:

I think Ryan T is right on the 2nd one.

The yellow star is Alabama.
