"Since the Cold War, Pakistan-U.S. relations have been oft-based on militant support. Pakistan assisted the U.S. in removing the Soviet-backed regime in Afghanistan by aiding so-called mujahedeen Islamist militants fighting the Red Army and Afghan government. Post-Soviet-withdrawal, the U.S. abandoned Afghanistan and Pakistan; and Pakistan supported another round of militancy creating the Afghan Taliban to remove the "mujahedeen" government from Kabul. Following the attacks on September 11, 2001, the U.S. called upon Pakistan to help remove al Qaeda from the region. Pakistan joined the U.S. in the so-called war on terror but prevented another abandonment by the U.S. through a third round of militancy support[1], this time by rebuilding and supplying the Afghan Taliban remnants to weaken the newly formed Afghan government[2]. Pakistan does not trust America or Afghanistan to be helpful to Pakistan's policies and the U.S. does not trust Pakistan …" Main page link Amicalement Armand |

India is a more logical choice of a US ally given the growing threat from China. |

Not trusting Pakistan is something that India and America have long had in common. |

India is a more logical choice of a US ally given the growing threat from China. India's aspirations in the Indian Ocean are as a threat to western interests as the Chinese ones. The west is lucky India's government and all its machinery is mainly incompetent and corrupt. |

Not sure India is actually claiming actual land like China does vs just territorial waters. On paper India makes more sense for us than Pakistan. But we want both as allies which makes things rather awkward. Unfortunately fundamental Islamic thinking makes alliances fragile IMO. Turkey has turned the wrong corner IMO as an example. Honestly China and Russia should be more concerned by either of these countries. India will most likely overtake China economically at some point. But then again the strain in their infrastructure due to explosive population growth. It's also difficult to manage a country with so many languages and dialects. I suppose English us the defacto lingua franca; or is it Hindu? |

Yes, India is a better choice for an ally than Pakistan. Pakistan's religious fundamentalism is a block to going into modernity. Just as we see in A'stan. In both cases … you can't free a fish from water … |

Ancientsgamer, India is not claiming land but rather it's goals are to be the dominant force in the whole Indian Ocean (even surpassing UN). This has been laid out in some of their official documents including a naval white paper. The includes peripheral waters such as Persian Gulf. It includes Africa, SE Asia, the Middle East and Australia. Note the Indians are also deploying ships to SC Sea which is out of their scope! Luckily the Indians are incapable of developing any such visions into actual capabilities.
India will most likely overtake China economically at some point. Doubt it. They are too inefficient, corrupt, bureaucratic and as you point out cultural diverse to ever achieve what China has. |

Stop giving them money, until they root out and eliminate their radicals, both in government, and society. Of course, that'll never happen, but cutting off their money is a good idea. Support their opponents to weaken them as much as possible. |

The US just gave Pakistan $10 USD million for Gender Studies … I'm sure that was money well spent. 😆 |

One either flatters, bribes or kisses ass if one cannot afford to ignore a nation. Look carefully whom the US gives money and aid to, in what amounts. |
Legion 4 | 14 Mar 2021 11:01 a.m. PST |
Yes, just check out how much $ in aid the US gives to many nations around the world every year. Many of whom vote against us in the UN, etc., etc. Regardless if the US didn't give $ to some of those failed and/or failing states worldwide … someone else would and does … No too hard to imagine who … |
