Hi guys Have gloss coated, added decals, pin washed, matt coated then added oil steaking, next up a dry brush, maybe another pin wash, and will start adding mud and dust. Have left the Char B1 out from this process, on the side I have started putting together my French force, I'll slide him into that project after this one is completed. Heaps more pics here https://gunnerswargamming.blogspot.com/2021/03/172-stalingrad-germansrussiansromanian.html [img width=1000 height=515]https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NX8XdBQNfeg/YEiWueG39bI/AAAAAAAAROA/YfoITTZPURQr2bi5zMU3O8Ij7xey8pA5gCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_5107%255B9543%255D.jpg [img width=1000 height=723]https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yiJUorb2HK8/YEiWunh2gKI/AAAAAAAAROE/3Gx_iTdil844ofkfVEK3kJ0rlg46fJTfACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_5108%255B9544%255D.jpg

Just watched Stalingrad on the BBC World at War series. (Well you have to do something during 40 minutes on the cross trainer.) It reminded me how ill equipped were the Axis Allies and how the Soviet forces were transformed. I would bet not too many BT5's by then (although it is a model I have loved since I tried to make one from a T34 chassis 40 years ago.) The painting and highlighting of these is really striking. You mention your French force. I must get you into 1944/5 French…… |

Not yet, early French for me, yeah, wouldn't be many BT7 s at Stalingrad itself, but in truth it will cover a larger chunk of the eastern front than Stalingrad, Stalingrad is really just a focal point. |

40% of Russian tanks in the Battle of Stalingrad are T-60. |

One gets the impression that every Soviet tank was a T34/76 from the newsreels. I suspect the Axis troops felt the same by then. Thanks Cuprum. The Documentary also stressed the superiority of Soviet medical services, a point you recently made. I always confuse the BT 5 and 7. This is a 7 with a BT 5 turret fitted I think (as indeed they did) |

The Germans called the T-60 in 1942 "ineradicable locusts." There was every reason for this then. Tank factories in the Urals were just setting up mass production of the T-34 after the evacuation. |
