Can anyone give me an idea of the numbers of figures typically required for a game or perhaps the minimum number to make the game worthwhile. All the games I seen have very large numbers on the tabletop but I wondered if this is necessary or if differing basing regimes will work just as well. |

Hi Timmo I am doing my collection in 10mm. The rules suggest a battalion of British Infantry, one of Egyptians, two squadrons of cavalry and a gun for the Imperial forces. Twenty bases of Mahdists on foot, ten bases of cavalry and two or three of camel will get you started. I am doing many more. |

Jim – thank you. Could you give me an idea of how many figures/bases make up the British Battalion? |

A full strength British Battalion is 5 companies and weaker battalions are usually 4 companies. A company is two bases of 6 figures (2 x 3) making 12 figures one of which is a company officer. A full battalion is therefore 60 fighting figures. The battalion will also have a mounted officer. You can see some here: link |

Jim those figures are well done. I have those rules on order. |

Thanks Tony. I have yet to play these rules. I am also looking at Black Powder 2 as an alternative. |

Thank you Jim for confirming numbers and showing your great figures. I think this is viable for me, a case of expanding what I have already completed. Tango – links to some great stuff – thank you. All much appreciated. |
