Can anyone say if the following company… jupiterivdecals.com …is still selling their SFB related decals? Reason I'm asking, on my old Fire tablet, it looks like only the Lou Zocchi sets are available, but on my new Android phone, the SL2400 decals for each SFB Empire, which don't show up on the tablet, are shown as available on the phone! Thanks in advance for any replies :) |

jupiterivdecals@gmail.com link From the "Contact Us" page on the web site. I don't have any clue, other than this. |

I ordered from them a few days ago and received an acknowledgement. Could be automated, I suppose – time will tell… |

@Caliban The reason I asked was I was wanted to post a link on a FASA Trek forum. I would appreciate if you let us know you receive your order safely. |

@Gear Pilot That's cool. Do you mind if I ask which decals range you ordered from? Zocchi or the SL2400 range? |

@Gear Pilot How long did your order take to get to you? Plus was it just the Zocchi decals or ones from the Empire specific SL2400 ranges? @Caliban Any luck with your order? Same question as to which of the ranges you ordered from. Looking forward to your replies. 😃😃 |

Hi Trynda, I just heard from them a couple of days ago – looks like they are processing my order. It took them a while to get back to me after I initially made the order, but then it is a big one, from the 2400 range. |

@Caliban That's good to hear. Could you please post again when you receive your order safely? It would be appreciated. 😃 |

They arrived today. They are nice – quite crisp and well coloured. The Lyran clan symbols look like Japanese mon, and in fact some of them could probably do for something like that, maybe on kimono for 25mm figures, or sashimono for 15mm. I'll probably take a photo or two in better light and post them here so you can see what they look like |

I've tried them out now on the model I put together as a Kzinti Starbase, and they are rather disappointing. The sheet of Kzinti names comes out very dark, too dark for use, in fact, even though I tried them on a painted stripe of white. This is surprising, because they look so bright, as I hope you can see in the photos. Link here: link The ship insignia are also dark, but those ones are usable. I'll probably paint a little white rectangle on the ships themselves to make the decals 'pop' a bit more. One thing to look out for is that the entire sheet is covered with transfer film, so you need to cut around the individual decals to make sure there isn't too much extra – that can become a bit awkward when you are trying to put them onto a ship panel. This reminds me of older transfer sets like the old Revo medieval ones. Overall verdict: worth getting the insignia sheets, so the Lyrans should be good too, but I wouldn't bother with the ships' names. |

Sorry trynda, I missed your question. I ordered the from the SL2400 range. Federation and Klingons. They took a little while, maybe a month, to receive them. His website does say he has a day job that takes him away from home. |

@Gear Pilot No problem, thanks for replying. 😃 How have you found them in use? Any pics of them on ship minis you can share with us? @Caliban I'd also like to see any ship pics you have. 😃 |

Hi Trynda, I've recently painted the Shapeways Kzinti Battle Station:
I hope you can see one of the insignia on the model, kind of in the front middle. The decals are fine if you put them on a bright patch. One thing I have found is that they are rather stiff for waterslides, so you will need to take extra care if you are planning to place them somewhere that is not entirely flat, like a bulkhead or a ship section with rivets or something. You would probably need decal softener. This model is quite small – about 2.5" across in total, so I'm hoping you'll get some idea of the scale. I actually used fluorescent white paint where I new I'd be placing the decal, but gloss would probably be better. |
