Hi Just about to start a big new project – two 28mm ECW armies. I would love to see examples of grass/pasture themed bases. Also any top tips about the techniques/materials involved. TIA |

Since no one else has jumped in, go very easy on the rocks. When I first started flocking, I went way over board. Now I do it in about four steps. Base flock with a few rocks, second shade of flock in patches, third shade of flock also in patches, and finally some figures get some scrub brush and /or grass. |

Recently watched some YouTube videos wherein a guy cut up Sisel Rope, into tiny fibers, inked them for coloring, and then used them in place of static grass. Ridiculously inexpensive. Me, I mix three colors of sand (2-green, one tan) plus model RR ballast (in-scale large rocks). I paint PVA Wood Glue on the bases, and swirl them in the sand-ballast mixture, tap off the loose stuff, and then let it dry. I use PVA Wood Glue because it is far stronger than PVA White Glue. I'm into army speed painting + basing. Ignore if you want something more realistic. I go for quick, easy, and simple. Cheers! |
