Thanks to one of my readers I have posted an updated 1/72 scale British artillery comparison to my blog. There are also a number of works in progress for your amusement:

Love the old skool figure basing.

Isn't the Airfix gun a 9-pounder?

Thanks 4th Cuirassier. That's a great question about the Airfix set. My assumption was that it doesn't specify, so would really be whichever fits best, but I could be wrong in that. Do they do both a horse and foot artillery set?

No, just RHA, and they don't say what the gun is. I was never sure what it was, until I acquired a Hinchliffe (later repackaged as Calder Craft) 30mm RHA gun diorama kit (see page 9 of this link).

Hinchliffe guns seemed pretty accurate and the RHA gun had quite different, spindly proportions compared to the 9-pounder RA piece. Notably, the barrel was shorter and thinner and the trunnions at roughly its midpoint, so that the muzzle did not I think project past the wheels. When you put the Airfix next to an accurate 6-pounder and 9-pounder, it was clear it was supposed to be the latter.

Most of the Airfix stuff scaled out more like 1/76 than 1/72, at least heightwise. If it's intended to be a 1/76 9-pounder rather than a 1/72 6-pounder, then the RHA gun's dimensions should be (actual):

A 23.9 (23.3) – 3% under
B 13.3 (13.6) – 2% over
C 20.0 (19.0) – 5% under
D 26.3 (27.1) – 3% over
E 39.9 (37.8) – 5% under
F 15.0 (15.0) – correct

Have you checked the dimensions of the Call to Arms 1/72 9-pounder? I've got some somewhere I could try to dig out.

Thanks 4th Cuirassier. I have updated the spreadsheet with a couple of new additions and noted your observation regarding the Airfix gun in the comments. I am unfamiliar with the Call to Arms line. Would love specs and a little background. Are they still available or OOP?

OK, so the CTA guns are as follows:

A: 22mm
B: 14mm
C: 21mm
D: 22mm
E: 37mm
F: 15mm
