Hello,

I want to airbrush prime my metal minis. I will be using acrylic finish paint… Vallejo or GW or Army Painter.
I am wondering should I use a lacquer or enamel or petrol based primer paint on the bare metal or is the Vallejo air surface primer or the Badger Stynylrez surface primer a good sealing first layer?

I use Stynlrez primer on metal, resin and plastic figs. Just let it dry 24 hours and you're good to go. I also have used Mission Models primer. Both are excellent. I own but haven't tried my Vallejo Primer.

Thanks.

John

I use Vallejo and badger with no problems.

I also use both the stynylrez and mission models primers. I like them more than the vallejo primer, when it comes to figures. I use the vallejo on my ww2 vehicles.

No matter what primer you use, I think it is best to let them sit for 24 hours before you start painting. I tend to prime about 20 figures at a time.

I use stynylrez. Works great!

Stynylrez is my go-to for priming any material, great stuff.

FYI: Stynylrez is $2.03 USD/ounce (@ Amazon), without factoring in shipping costs. For that price, it had better be very good! LOL

They claim it is good for use on pretty much any surface material: plastic, metal, resin, wood, and other surfaces.

Also, note the warning:

thank you folks for the information. I had some of both brands delivered and snatched them from my mailbox or door stoop immediately as soon as delivered. I hope they didn't sit somewhere freezing in transit. I'll give them a try shortly !
