How do you like the enlarged command game? Games require more turns to reach a decision, but this is a bonus as strategies can be better developed. |

Yes, we are enjoying the games. The games take about twice as long as a standard DBA 3.0 game (about 2 hours instead of 1, which isn't bad at all), but the armies look good and are very interesting. We keep the set-up distances the same, so the armies come into action right away. |

With practice you will be able to play two games in place of one. |

You noted that "Macedonia & Persia each had one sub-general per the DBA 24 guidelines for command purposes".But you also noted that "we only used one pip die for each side", so I'm wondering what you meant by that. Did it mean you didn't have command radius issues? This is about the size of a typical DBMM100 game (a rough, tally suggested about 120AP each in DBMM) and I agree, PIP starvation focuses the mind and makes for a great game. Cheers, John |

Basically you throw one dice for PIPS but have two generals from which to measure command distance (because the +1 to move when out of command range is pretty restricting). When I do this I halve the command distance of the sub-general. Otherwise pretty much exactly as described. It's a good game. And yes, 1 PIP dice for 24 elements does focus the mind…. Cheers, JohnG |
