If you already play Team Yankee would you be at all interested in seeing a Chinese line of miniatures designed to roughly cover from 1970 to 1990?

Irish Marine14 Feb 2021 6:31 p.m. PST

Sure.

China, India, Pakistan, etc.

I would, as an enemy to the Soviet Union in the late 70s (inspired by the old "Mukden" quad game).

Yes.

Not really, they'd likely be a list requiring four dozen rubbish T55 knock offs. The period covered by TY isn't anything special as regards the PLA.

KevinV14 Feb 2021 11:41 p.m. PST

I'd like.

McWong, pretty much right on Bro. But I still like the idea of throwing a ton of Chinese crappy tanks at a lot fewer, slightly better Russian tanks somewhere along the Northern Cineses border in 1979.

In 15mm, other than skin color USSR from that era should work for Chinese.
I would consider using Korean era castings for reserve troops. Old Glory 15mm has a range that would work.

The Sino-Vietnam war in 79 is interesting, and at least you'd be able to field tanks, but how many Type 62 tanks could you run, what would be the points cost for T55's with an 85mm gun?

Sure, wouldn't consider buying them, but they could introduce their own line. At least it would be something that interests me that comes from China, then I could studiously avoid buying them.

I would like to see Chinese – but current or near current Chinese. Ditto some of the other likely players – India, Pakistan, etc. I prefer likely wars to definitely didn't happen ones.

@Beaumap, I too MUCH prefer Ultra Modern Chinese kit to 1970s to 90s stuff.

The only problem with Ultra Modern battles is that today's battles have changed so much in the last 20 years that it would probably need a new Campaign book for Team Yankee rules to cover today's faster paced battles.

That said, I would definitely be down for a US+ SEATO + Vietnam + India vs China campaign book for TY.
