Good work especially in this scale. I love good sized units that give a ‘feel' of the period. Best wishes, Chris |

Actually, not the first Black unit raised. |

Nice job! Sorry Tango but I disagree with you. Wrong style headgear. Documented records show that that majority of the 54th wore the Forage/Kepi style headgear with a few wearing slouches, and No "Hardee hats". Also the paint jobs aren't very good, it's easy to spot splotches of blue on the faces. Looks like some speed painting was done. |

I agree with you Murphy. I thought some of the head gear was wrong and the painting isn't that great. |

It's not just the hats, the regimental flag should have the Massachusetts arms on a white field. But even more problematic is who drilled these guys? Presumably they are at "Right Shoulder Shift", but several of the ranks have a couple of men with their musket on their left shoulder. And the corporal on the left flank of the front rank is at Arms Port?! Really?? |

Sorry to hijack a thread about some mediocre painted figures, but since he ran the title as about the 54th Massachusetts, I had to chime in. We ran the "GLORY" Attack on Fort Wagner scenario at several conventions; it is actually a thrilling, hotly-contested fight. The scenario was written up in CHARGE magazine issue #32. Interesting note: in the movie, the ocean is on the wrong side! Historically the Union troops actually had to land below (south) of the fort and charge "up the beach" or northward due to the proximity of Fort Sumter. Our version was in 15mm:
