Interesting book, and actually rather readable! I never knew there was a .45 caliber shotgun type round for use in pistols. These went into emergency kits for downed aircrew and others , the idea being they could use them to bring down small game to eat. Perhaps it was just my monitor, but the last few pages were blurry and difficult/impossible to read. Grelber |

Perhaps it was just my monitor, but the last few pages were blurry and difficult/impossible to read. Sometimes the pages slowly focus as they load, maybe that's the issue? |

Back in the 1950's, my Dad had rural property in Chatham County, NC He traveled in his engineering job. He bought a surplus .45 and a couple of boxes of what were marketed as 'rat shot' rounds (the 'shotgun' rounds referred to upthread). Those were handy for dealing with copperhead snakes and rattlesnakes. |

I used plenty of .22 caliber "rat shot" as a kid. Plinking rats in a rabbit barn down the road. Great fun and never put my eye out. Did see a few ricochets when we used .22 short rounds. Working for the Navy more recently, I travelled to lots of ammo plants up and down the Mississippi River and from Arkansas to Kansas. Really quite the sight watching those places and Olin cranking out small arms ammo and other munitions. |
