…has anyone tried and can you share your opinion? I bought the rules to use them in 19th cent., the period they were designed for. The rules however says its period agnostic and has rules for armour, etc..so I thought maybe I can use them for my ancient italiotes as well. I am a little worried however that without guns shooting, the rules won't work as nicely as they normally do (supposedly, haven't tried yet!). I mean it's a pretty big difference between a gunfight and some guys hitting each other, with maybe a couple of arrows flying! So, can you share your experience? |

He's releasing a Fantasy version soon. There are stats for Ancient to Medieval in Bigger Battles. The rules are quite flexible. I think they should work fine. We have played a lot of FFOL and its variants. Thanks. John |

I've played both extensively and successfully! FFoL will handle basically anything, as game design and creativity is left to the gamer! |

We used the Core Rules for a Medieval/fantasy skirmish game and the Bigger Battles rules for a Byzantine/Sassanid Persian game. There are a number of videos on YouTube where people have used the rules for Ancient and Medieval with fantasy games. Wiley Games also has a YouTube channel. You will need the Core Rules book to play the Medieval/Fantasy rules. YouTube link |

Many thanks to all! I do have the core rules already, and also the scenario book – it's just that I am not 100% sure they would work without handguns, given that they were designed as a wild west ruleset! I guess the scenario is king here as minibeady said. As soon as this covid stuff is done I ewll bring them to the club.. |
