and this time I have finally put together some pics of my GMC 353s mounting a Bofors and the curious 50 calibre DCA (French for AAA), both I think unique to 2eme DB.

I also had the smaller truck Chevrolet G 1707, produced from left over bits from one Academy, two Heller and a Katyusha(!). It is loaded with Milicast's jerricans of fuel (Peleton de Ravitaillement of course!) so I had to have the nautical type smoking a crafty fag. Capt Dronne's jeep in the background of course

Incredible workmanship!

They look fantastic DH.

The troops gazing upwards works well (could be part of the celebration – could be snipers or even an air raid)!

Thanks folks. All I see is what the camera showed up of course! I knew the cab and engine was slightly crooked on the 50 calibre GMC, but not that crooked!

Notice how the Prefecture de Police is covered in lighter coloured sandstone squares and rectangles? That is where they repaired the bullet holes around the windows 70 years later. I watched them doing it and could not believe it. Sheer vandalism.

Bofors barrel and sights are from Dan Taylor, as indeed are the forage caps and the RBFM officers cap…all on Milicast resin figures of US Army types. The kepi and sailor's headgear…..a French firm…newly discovered and a treasure trove for me….and I will remember the name….

Great work – have been following these little beauties from when they were being scratch built and I remain very, very impressed – please keep sharing!

Great stuff! Those are some cool unique vehicles.

Very nice indeed Mr D.

To my mind the second picture is the most atmospheric.

There is a real ‘feel' of the event .

Well done.

Best wishes,

Chris

Once again, that's amazing! YOu did capture the spirit of les gars de Leclerc!
Great choice of backgrounds too, the Préfecture was the headquarters of the REsistance uprising and the location from which Colonel Rol-Tanguy tried to impose his views on the Comité de Libération. THere was some fifgting there between the truces.
The last 2 pics, if I am not pistaken are from the Rue de Rivoli, near the end close to the place de la Concorde, wher Choltitz' HQ was located.
Congrats for your outstanding work, Leclerc would approve. wink

Mind you, if you want to see skilled modelling of 2eme DB vehicles (and this is not false modesty) just look at this for an M32 in 1/72 scale (page 2 of 2);

or for the Bofors (page 3 of 4 right at the bottom);

I did an earlier reply that suddenly disappeared.

First was to say just how unique were many of the 2eme DB vehicles but it is the colourful markings that get me.

Then the atmospheric idea. To be realistic these vehicles would be covered in chic Parisiennes, making photo interpretation almost impossible. The 2eme DB and 4th US Inf Div did know how to party.

Then the Rue de Rivoli. Bien Sur. My favourite scene in "Paris, Brule t'il?" is Jean-Pierre Cassel as Lt Karcher dodging along the colonnade towards von Choltitz. I do have a White Scout Car with Leclerc standing up front and often wanted to find a Gert Frobe lookalike to join him.

But next is the M4A3 105 HVSS (1945 obviously) but also Santa brought me an M4A3 75 which I still lack.

Amazing as always, in awe. As to the other models you provide links to am sure I speak for many here that your efforts take a backseat to no one.

Lovely

Must thank Gunner Dunbar and Marc for "raising the dead" and bringing these three posts back for further attention.

Be honest, I had forgotten the "work in progress"

That little truck of RBFM. I must show it again with its net that conceals the way I cheated in the side. I must show Bourg La Reine, then La Moskowa with green markings, or Andelot II with HVSS, not to mention Simoun, the M10, with an RBFM crew. This one will be good actually. I am, let us say, not "displeased" with this.

Snag is I need new Paris photo prints and, right now, c'est ne pas possible.

Excellent work, deadhead! It almost looks real. Great backdrop!
