I've read most of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan books. I stopped when I hurt my back picking up one of the later ones.
You can watch the adventures of Jack Ryan on Amazon Prime. (No, I don't subscribe.)

But this is not how I imagined him. Not Red October Jack! Not Patriot Games Jack!
But this?

Felt pretty much the same when I saw it.

Certainly is a man of many talents.

I have never seen that show, but now I may have to tune in occasionally just to laugh out loud.

Fred Mills09 Feb 2021 3:36 p.m. PST

I always thought that the casting of Hunt for Red October was very nearly perfect: Baldwin as a young, cocksure Ryan and an analyst with a hunch; Connery and Neil as the Soviet duo; Scott Glenn as the US sub commander; and James Earl Jones as the Admiral. All good.

None of the others quite cut it for me, and the current TV series is deeply mediocre, and monstrously cast.

Some day, maybe, we'll see Red Storm Rising as a film!

Enjoyed the first season, not so much the second.

I agree with Fred Mills about Hunt for Red October.

The tv series should not be watched with any thought about Clancy's writing or any of the movies. It's just lightweight fun.

I agree with JMc. Liked the first series but was underwhelmed by the second, even if it did feature the Royal Holloway College.

Must admit to not being a fan of Clancy, so not bothered how close they are to the books. I just take the various screen adaptations as standalone. And those I have seen are not worth a second viewing.

I just can't take John Krasinski seriously. I look at him and all I can think of is Jim from "The Office".

That's like saying that Peter O'Toole plays a madman in every movie!
Oh, wait…

When I started watching Breaking Bad I initially thought Bryan Cranston was trying to invoke Hal from Malcolm in the middle
