I am going to start basing 15mm figures individually. I am looking for a simple and cheap base to use that I will be only painting. Any ideas are much appreciated. Thanks! |

Pennies or washers. Use white glue liberally |

Pennies. If you cover them in PVA and dip them in builders sand you don't even need to paint them. |

Pennies have too great a diameter to be really practical. If you try to assemble a formation of any kind, it'll look like they are social distancing. Take a figure to your local big box hardware store and test out steel washers to find which size you like best aesthecally. Be sure to get zinc washers, not stainless steel. With zinc washers you can store the figs on sheet magnets. Stainless Steel washers don't stick to magnetic materials all that well. Go figure. |

If you prefer square bases (they likely have round disks available, as well), search e-Bay, Wish, and Amazon, for laser cut MDF, or wooden bases. There are a variety of sizes available, inexpensively. I glue my mini's to the base, first, then I paint the base with PVA Wood Glue. After that, I swirl them in a pan filled with 3-4 colors of green and tan sands: no painting, super easy, super fast. When the PVA Glue dries, it will not warp the MDF/wood. Cheers! |

It depends on what you're using the miniatures for? Are they skirmish? Or Rank and file? If they are skirmish I would absolutely use the US Penny. Works great, is the right size and only costs you 1 cent for each base. If you are doing rank and file, might I suggest USPS Priority mail cardboard? It is the right thickness and free. But you'll have to cut the bases yourself….. Dave |

Assuming these are for skirmish games then I would look at magnetic sheeting that's available in small circles. Just glue this to the figure base, optionally use filler to build up the outside rim to the level of the base, paint and use. You can then put metal 'paper' in your box and stop the figures sliding around when moving them. In the U.K. I've had lots of success using link but they are currently (8/2/21) out of stock. |

Wargames Accessories makes steel cut squares 1/2"x1/2" that work beautifully. Small washers also work and Amazon even sells steel discs (no holes) that are affordable. For single figures that are to be ranked up I prefer the squares |

I use Superglue gel and glue them to either 1/2" or 5/8" washers depending on figure size, or 1/2" x 1/2" metal squares. I actually use the same technique for my 28s – Superglue them to 1" washers. |

Euro cent pennies are good for 15mm and a bit smaller than 1p coins. |

Pennies are literally the cheapest basing material available, but I agree with others here that they're too large if you want the figures to ever adopt any formation besides open order. OTOH Litko makes movement trays that will move them all together when they do adopt a formation. If you don't mind square bases, it's pretty hard to beat the ease and versatility of styrene sheet. Choose the thickness you want, score and break it into any size you want. If you glue on a sheet magnet first, you can score the plastic by cutting through the magnet. If you want round magnetic bases, I've used1/2 for 15mm officer figures. They do tend to stick together when they flop over, but not so much side-to-side. There are two types of material: hard ceramic and flexible (rubber?); I prefer the flexible material (it has less magnetic attraction), but they've become much harder to find in the sizes I want. - Ix |

Superglue and pennies. I play 15mm WWII Battlegroup and have lots of infantry based individually. |

Look at my post here, TMP link I am singlebasing everything and making magnetic movement trays, ( or buying trays if you wish which you can magnetize) it gives you a lot of options singlebasing |
