Hi – I'm looking to play some fairly simple tank-on-tank battles. Desert War stuff without infantry getting involved, just the tanks fighting each other.

What rules would you recomend?

I have 6mm and 15mm tanks so either size is going to work for me. Have around a company of each.

Looked at the TFL tank rules but I don't get on with their rules so please don't suggest that. Same for Bolt Action Tank War. Open to all other suggestions.

What a Tanker is a fun tank game.

You could use Fist Full of TOWs. They have a conversion to 1:1 scale.

Too bad about TFL rules…you're missing out on a real fun game for What a Tanker.

'World of Tanks: The Miniatures Game' from Gale Force 9 sounds like what you're looking for:

If you wish free rules, WRG June 1973, FoW 3rd edition, GHQ WWII Micro Squad and perhaps Schwere Kompanie. FoW is simple, but the rules are rather long. If you want to ignore infantry WRG may be the simplest and easiest option. The other options are more complex.

If you wish to pay money Mein Panzer is pretty good, but i am uncertain if you can ignore infantry.

I am uncertain about skirmish rules, most tend to be infantry focused. Someone who has more knowledge in that field may be able to provide a better answer.

Just how simple do you want them? I have an old three page sheet of rules we used to play with the kids

Just the tank rules from Operation Warboard work well, What a Tanker rules are okay but games can drag on a little.

I have used the Mein Panzer Junior with the grandkids – nice simple rules and easy to play

Thansk for the suggestions guys, lots for me to look at there. No point trying to sell me on the TFL stuff but thanks anyway.

Tigers and Stalins. Great little game, very elegant and simple, but well thought and designed.

The olde Battleground and also the Tractics rules will work for skirmish gaming.

Firefly too, for WWII.
