Mostly what I did this week is struggle with my old camera, which I have begun to fear is busted, so these were taken with my phone.

This is a tiny "Old West' style adobe building (barely a shed) from a now defunct company called Tactical Conflict Systems. I haven't painted a building before, so I started small. I need to do a better job of cleaning up the casting bubbles on it's bigger siblings. Fortunately, they are less obvious in RL.

Really nice building.
Good texture too. Wins over MDF I think.

Do you think that phones are good enough for most of us, to take over from cameras?

Thanks!

Cell phone cameras are really quite good these days. I have a mid-priced android phone, and the image quality is a lot better than even some expensive digital cameras from the old days. But, phones have tiny sensors, and tiny lenses, compared to most dedicated cameras, so there are some inherent limitations. Fancier phones make up for this somewhat by using multiple lenses, but even the humbler ones do a pretty good job.

The main reason I would prefer to use my real camera, if it was working properly, is control. I have a 3rd party app that lets me do more with my phone camera than otherwise, but I can't directly set the camera aperture, can't focus manually, and have no choice of lens. I also can't shoot in raw format, which would give me more freedom to do stuff in photoshop to moderate the shiny highlights, for example.
