"The revolver or wheel gun is that classic cowboy gun that everyone wants; it's reliable, powerful, and is just plain cool. Smith & Wesson brings a new modern take on the revolver with the 327 TRR8, a .357 blacked out showstopper designed with SWAT use in mind…"

Looks and sounds like a beefed up SW 686 which is an excellent gun. When I trained regularly, I could fire 12 rounds from the holster with a 686 in 5 seconds, including the reload, so a wheel gun is certainly fast. Mike Bunkermeister Creek Bunker Talk blog |

I would think a SWAT team would be oriented around weapons larger than revolvers. |

Short range man stopping power is what a .357 is all about… Fits SWAT well in close quarters. |

Many SWAT guys like the reliability of the revolver and they seldom fire more than a couple rounds in most entries. So a revolver is a good choice. Also the sights don't move back and fourth on a slide like a semi-automatic so you can sometimes stay on target better and faster. StarCruiser is right the .357 magnum with hollowpoints has excellent terminal performance. Mike Bunkermeister Creek Bunker Talk blog |
