hi all, I just finished setting up my table for tomorrow. Playing the Medical scenario I shared recently. It will be my first game in the Mexican Revolution.

Looks fun…and not too different from Mexicali today.

Thanks PaulCollins, I'll take that as a compliment. i passed through (or near?) Mexicali 15 years ago on an otherwise extremely memorable bus ride from TJ down the Sonora coast. I wish I had know more about this episode in history then, we ended up going through many towns taken by the PLM.

It was definitely a compliment. And I kid when I say Mexicali still looks like this. It has a good deal of really good eateries, and it has become a good size city.

I've noticed by the current maps it grown a bit since 1911. PaulCollins, I'm not sure if you live nearby but you sure sound familiar with Mexicali. I'm wondering if you can help me locate the modern name or location for Picacho Pass? The sources I used say it's west of Mexicali, a pass through the mountains on the way to Tecate. Federal forces won a skirmish there against a small group of PLM scouts on February 8th, but I haven't been able to dig up a location on a map or any modern references to the pass.

I am about an hour north. A number of my students go to Mexicali for medical and dental care because of cost and lack of insurance. I will ask around and see if I can scare up any info. Also, I grew up near San Pasqual and mule hill, but, of course, that was an earlier war.

A Spanish Language teacher tells me that there is a CA state park, Picacho State Park, with extensive trails and overnight camping facilities. He didn't recall a museum of any sort, but he goes for the nature aspect. There are wild herds OG big horn sheep and coyotes and whatnot. Be aware that a lot of CA state parks are closed due to COVID.

wow I appreciate the quick response, even consulting with the experts, and not one pokeman joke, thanks! I'll look into that state park, perhaps the pass is just below the border from there. im up in New England so certainly no trips planned this winter, but i hope to get back there some day. if anyone ever hears about this Picacho Pass, please do share. But on the other hand it's probably not a big deal. it was such a minor skirmish, I'll probably skip it. the game I played today took me all of 2 hours to finish. it was fun, and a nice departure from the big, complex Spanish Civil War games ive been playing lately, but given the long set up time, I'll probably try to focus on slightly larger battles. thanks all!
