A while back, someone posted a poll about shaving habits. With everyone wearing masks almost 24/7, how's your facial hair?

A) Keeping it professional with a daily shave
B) Going casual with a weekly shave
C) Thanks for reminding me, I haven't shaved all month
D) The beard keeps the mask off my face and I'm saving a ton by not buying razors
E) This is ridiculous

Garand26 Jan 2021 7:57 p.m. PST

A. My wife doesn't like wiskers when I kiss her.

Damon.

Perris070726 Jan 2021 8:19 p.m. PST

A. Old habits and all that.

Lascaris26 Jan 2021 8:26 p.m. PST

Between A and B. I always have a goatee and moustache but I shave the rest every 2-5 days.

KevinV26 Jan 2021 8:33 p.m. PST

C. I'm close to retirement and tenured.

Grelber26 Jan 2021 9:00 p.m. PST

A. Old habits, like Perris. Also I think the sort-of beards where you continuously look like you haven't shaved in a week look stupid.

F. Wear facial hair, same manicure treatment as it was before COVID-19.

I have worked from home for nearly a year, now (50 weeks, and counting); the facial hair has been standard kit since 1986. Cheers!

A. I like having a moustache, but it doesn't like me. I can't keep it debonair. I just look like a guy who can't trim his moustache.

As far as professional goes, professional what?

A shave daily, do have a moustache, never liked the unshaven look even when I had a full beard, trimmed that regularly.

Greylegion27 Jan 2021 4:25 a.m. PST

I'll give it an A. I skip Saturday & Sunday though.

Martin Rapier27 Jan 2021 4:43 a.m. PST

Shave every day, including my entire head.

Florida Tory27 Jan 2021 5:05 a.m. PST

G. I grow a mustache every November for the Movember charity event.

Mustache and Beard: daily trim.

FusilierDan Supporting Member of TMP27 Jan 2021 5:30 a.m. PST

B.
I've had a mustache for 40 years. Grew a goatee this winter which I trimmed regularly but shaved it off last week. I shave every few days. My facial hair is turning grey so it's not as noticeable as before so skipping a day or so doesn't matter.

G. Shave twice a week, roughly.

My skin is easily irritated, and hates to be shaved. But then, my beard looks scraggily and awful if I let it grow for long, and begins to itch worse than when I shave. So I go about three days and then shave. As I no longer have a "deal with he public" job, the appearance matters only to my wife, and she likes a little scruff. (Besides, if it gets much longer I begin to look like a really seedy strip mall Santa.)
My dermatologist has now put me on a regimen which as a side result means I may have to shave a little more frequently, but should help ease the irritation.

Shagnasty Supporting Member of TMP27 Jan 2021 6:32 a.m. PST

Every 2-3 days except for my 'stache which I have had for 50+ years now. Gave up on my effort at a van Dyke when someone said I looked like Col. Sanders!

B. I have a mustache and van Bleeped text – so its really more of a trim and clean up.

Am retired, but with additional facial hair now look like a Civil War general.

21eRegt27 Jan 2021 9:42 a.m. PST

A. But…
Beards, goatees, clean shaven, all come and go.
Hair is longer than it has been since the 70s.

HMS Exeter27 Jan 2021 9:45 a.m. PST

Ive had a beard for decades. When Covid fired up I decided to let it grow out. I figured it'd go either Civil War general or college professor.

It came out psycho killer.

I whack it into shape when it looks like it's ready to go to seed.

A – had mustache once but then I grew up

Between A and B. If I try to grow a mustache it just looks like I haven't washed my upper lip properly :-(

Personal logo The Virtual Armchair General Sponsoring Member of TMP27 Jan 2021 12:29 p.m. PST

My situation is not on the list.

I've worn a beard and 'stache since 1970, never very lengthy (my follicles do NOT runneth over), and trim it weekly. As I seldom go out, anyway, wearing a mask is not a problem with my now white soup strainer.

Thresher0127 Jan 2021 1:07 p.m. PST

B to C.

Have to draw the line and shave when I start looking like a sasquatch when I'm not wearing a mask, since I don't want to become someone's wall trophy.

farnox27 Jan 2021 1:35 p.m. PST

Between A and B. The beard is quite grey now but the goatee isn't too bad. I really do hate shaving so it's as little as I can get away with.

dilettante Supporting Member of TMP27 Jan 2021 5:12 p.m. PST

A. Except for beard (goatee type) and moustache. I trim the moustache about every two weeks. The beard waits for my haircut.

von Schwartz ver 227 Jan 2021 6:05 p.m. PST

An aging but much better looking Jerry Garcia!

von Schwartz ver 227 Jan 2021 6:07 p.m. PST

I am glad that you specifically said "facial hair".

Hey, did some one finally get a good picture of Bigfoot?!?!?
Oh, sorry eto its only you

BTW, Skeedadle, How can they bleep the end of vandyke, it's a style of beard, NOT a pergorative term?

Narratio27 Jan 2021 7:08 p.m. PST

Had a beard before, have a beard now… what is this 'shaving' you speak of stranger?

Oberlindes Sol LIC Supporting Member of TMP27 Jan 2021 7:49 p.m. PST

I have a goatee for the duration, for when I might wear an N95 mask and want a good seal.

Once this over, I'm going back to the neatly trimmed beard that I've worn for about 30 years.

Max Schnell27 Jan 2021 8:02 p.m. PST

A too gray

Zephyr127 Jan 2021 9:44 p.m. PST

The hair on my throat grows faster & thicker than on the rest of my face, so much so that I have to use a hair trimmer to shave it off every few days. I don't dare let it grow…

COL Scott ret27 Jan 2021 11:36 p.m. PST

A- mostly because my wife who I greatly enjoy kissing likes to kiss me clean shaven.

The exception to this is while backpacking I don't shave don't want to carry the razor.
so:

F- Don't shave when camping, etc.

Corporal Fagen27 Jan 2021 11:58 p.m. PST

Haven't shaved since 1992

Personal logo Virtualscratchbuilder Supporting Member of TMP Fezian28 Jan 2021 6:34 a.m. PST

Moustache and beard since 1980. Shaved beard twice since then so dermatologist could assess skin health. Total time unbearded: 4 days. Normally kept close cropped.

von Schwartz ver 228 Jan 2021 4:45 p.m. PST

Gawd, there's a lot of hair out there…..wait….put that to music….MY GOD, I've got a hit!!!!!

Sorry, went a little off topic there. Shaving appears to be a lost art. Watching TV I keep seeing these fellows, usually younger, with the 3-4 days growth. Never gets longer, never gets shorter….how DO they do that?

Shaved once when my daughter, now age 34, was 3. She took one look and ran screaming to mommy. Kinda what usually happens with me and women. Now my wife, I only got her cuz she tripped and sprained her ankle. She was still pretty quick though.

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP28 Jan 2021 5:06 p.m. PST

"How do they do that?" #1 clip on an electric razor would be my guess, von Schwartz.

Me?
A. 50+ years of habit, though the USAF once had me on twice a day. The side and back of the head are a #1 clip, and all the top of the head requires these days is a little neutral wax and a quick buff.

You know what they say about men with big feet. They need big shoes.

I don't need big shoes.
