Love that you have them wearing jeans, I was surprised the first time I read that the LRRP an SEALs wore jeans because they held up better than the BDUs in the field. |

Don't short yourself. You've done a great job. Jeans vs. fatigues is an interesting story. At some point, the military decided that it was cost-effective to make uniforms for Vietnam out of thinner material and just replace them more often as they fell apart in jungle conditions. Thinner uniforms were of course more comfortable in that environment. If, however, you were going to be out of resupply for a long time, it was better to have something that wouldn't wear out so fast, so LRRP and SEAL teams started wearing blue jeans. |

The guy with the silenced pistol is just straight out of the Blandford Uniform book that I still have somewhere. The tiger stripes are superbly done. My understanding is that, however iconic, the material was usually from SE Asia and paper thin and wore out very fast. It looked great but was poor quality, locally sourced for ARVN. Funny how jeans have changed. I still wear Levi 501s 32 waist and 32 leg (OK, they were 28 waisted in 1976) but my sons laugh at my rig now. Below the knee theirs' are now so fitted I could not get my arm through! Back then you got your Mom or girlfriend to insert a V shaped patch, to create flares, (until Levis created mens' flared jeans) to achieve the exact opposite. Peace and Love Man. What a Long Strange Trip it's Been. |

Those figures are pretty cool, but those paint jobs are fantastic! Regarding the pants, are they actually blue jeans, or were the SEALs just wearing the normal Navy-issued dungarees? V/R, Jack |

They wore blue jeans. Something about the material, it didn't snag and catch on things and didn't make noise as they passed through the jungle. |

I was surprised to see here [and elsewhere] that the SEALs wore blue denim jeans, since I imagine the climate would have made such heavy, slow drying material darned uncomfortable. Many locals wear jeans now and while it is a fashion statement, they're hardly practical in the rainy season or hot weather. Still – the SEALs kind of knew what they were about – so there must have been a good reason for everything they did. |

As Jack pointed out … IIRC US Sailors were issued blue trousers, IIRC called Dungarees. They were not as thick as standard civilian Blue Jeans, IIRC. The dungarees is work uniform along with a light blue shirt. They may be using those "dungarees" ? link
However Raynman says they were blue jeans … So … either way works for me ! |

I forgot about simple little pleasures such as posting here and having that feedback and encouragement help lift me up. So thanks guys its always appreciated even if I fail to communicate it! |
