"Multiple explosions were heard south of Iraq's capital overnight Monday in what reports suggest may have been US or Israeli airstrikes on Iran-backed militias. US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it was not aware "of any strikes in Iraq," according to a Reuters reporter in Washington…" Main page link Major Airstrikes Rock Iran-Backed Iraqi Militias Near Baghdad, Casualties Reported (Zero Hedge)

Air and Drone strikes and maybe some cruise missiles … Just keep attriting the plethora of enemies of in Iraq. Especially the Iraqi Shia militias supported by Iran. I don't know if ISIS will resurge like it did back in 2014, IIRC. But if anything looks questionable, Air & Drone strikes … repeat… and repeat as needed. We know the Iraqi military is not strong enough to deal with these insurgents, terrorists, jihadis, etc. We will see the same happen in A'stan and possibly Somali and Syria. I don't know what the incoming Admin's plans are for this? Now that we are pulling out of many places overseas. I think air and missiles are a better option than troops on the ground in this case. As we see, generally little really gets "better/fixed" in those places I mentioned. No matter how much blood & treasure is spent … That is no the USA's and it's allies fault … it's the home countries'. Who are failed or failing states for many reasons. And again we can't "fix" that/them … No matter how much money we waste on them. "You can't free a fish from water …" |

Seems like we should go full-on Stealth mode (from the movie), and make those floating, dirigible fueling stations for our jets and drones, and even some dirigibles packed to the gills with cruise missiles, smart bombs, and small diameter bombs, and just have them loiter over the Middle East to deal with things on an as-needed basis. Perhaps give them some long-range, and medium to short-range AAMs too, for self-protection. My guess is most of our enemies in the region won't have air, flak, or SAM assets that will be able to reach high enough to get to them, but better to be safe than sorry. Add in fighter CAPs if needed. Those dirigibles could loiter for months and years, surveilling the region, and dealing promptly with any threats that present themselves either autonomously, or controlled from a base station virtually anywhere on the planet. |

AFAIK they may be out there already? Or something we don't know about ? But if they ain't in the inventory now, don't think they will make it in the next 4 years. Of course the IDF has aircraft, etc., in range to most areas in that region. That may be our "ACE" in the hole". ♠ |
