I am currently finishing off my Jacobite Rebellion set-up but am planning my future expansion into the War of Austrian Succession. I want to base this expansion on the units which took part in the Battles of Dettingen in 1743 and Fontenoy in 1745. I believe that there were two Austrian Freikorp companies which were present at Fontenoy, although in reserve. Some Orbats do not mention them, others do not identify them, but the Osprey on Fontenoy shows them as Freikompagnie Bouvier and Freikompagnie Pertuiseaux. The Osprey on the Austrian Army 3 shows these as two of the 9 Free companies raised in the Austrian Netherlands in1744. I am trying to find uniform details for these two companies. I wondered whether they might be two of the three unidentified units shown in David Morier's print. link Any ideas? Rod |

I've often thought that those three are actually Bavarians ! Found the FK Bouvier and FK Pertuiseaux listed in Geschichte KUK Wehrmacht-V2 p.429. Raised in the Netherlands in 1744,dissolved by 1746 or 1748. link |
