I am assembling the very nice Sarissa Medieval Cog and I would like to find some 28mm crew for the ship. I have done some web searching but have not found anything. Any suggestions for where to find crew or appropriate medieval civilians (say 1100 to 1400). Thanks for any comments.

How about Old Glory's "Revolting Peasants?"

Or Welsh spearmen: link

Aren't all peasants revolting?

I don't know 28mm ranges well enough to be specific, but how about the crew from a trebuchet or other siege engineers. There are probably poses which wouldn't need much converting to look like they are working on the ship.

I don't suppose you could scale down a little? There are some good 1/72 figures which would work.

Sure, it could be scaled down to 1/72. Which figures would you suggest?

Valdemar have loads of 'diorama' type figures including a boat crew link

There are various other makes on the same website. A bit more expensive than wargame figures I think.

These are a bit later than your date range, but the Italians could probably work for a bit earlier than the stated age on the box. Plastic, so cheaper.

They do 3 boxes of Italians and also so Spanish, English and Turkish.

I have used Fireforges Foot Sergeants for the Zvezda Cog.

They have leather skull caps and medium armour, which can be seen as leather or padded linen.

The Norman Infantry from Conquest games also offers some fine non-armoured bodies and heads.

Actually I have used both. The remaining minis are pretty usefull for any basic medieval infantry.

If you want some more civilian look, Fireforge has released a peasant box lately. Some of these might work too, but as this box came a year later then my crew project I have not really used that perspective upon the sprue yet.
