Nothing like a diorama depicting war crimes (shooting of prisoners) to get the feel of the Eastern Front. It is well painted. |

They're not prisoners being shot, Comrade. They're just being interrogated. They've already finished the first interrogation. Pour encourager les autres, as the bourgeois French allies say. The Soviets took some 3 million German prisoners, of whom possibly 1 million died, and about 85,000 were convicted of war crimes and not returned to Germany until 1956. If these two survive interrogation, they can look forward to at least a few years of good hard work in the great outdoors -- and maybe quite a few years of it, depending on what the Soviets conclude about their participation in the invasion of the Motherland. My knowledge of Wehrmacht uniforms and insignia is far from encyclopedic, but it looks to me like all three prisoners are officers, so it was a successful raid. |

I am not a "stitch counter", I believe is the term for someone knows every detail of ever uniform. That being said, they are not all officers. Guy with pistol to his head is, but other two are enlisted. Also, the piping on the figures looks pink to me, could be wrong, if so, they are panzer crews. They are also what is called "sleeve eagles", or SS. So, it could be a bit of a rocky road trying to find common ground with the Commissar. |

From what I can tell, The man being interrogated is wearing officers shoulder boards but then has the NCO braid around his collar. The dead soldier had NCO shoulder boards without the NCO Braid and finally the last has enlisted man's shoulder boards with the NCO braid |
