Posts on it are pretty thin. Based on the YouTube videos I'd seen I gambled and ordered the base game, the 2x Booster Fleets, and pre-ordered the Dwarves Fleet.

Still interested in hearing Peoples even though I'm in for a pound now.

PS…Happy New Years.

Have not played it yet but I am busy painting up my fleets. From what I gather, it has borrowed the game mechanics from Warlord's Black Seas – or so it said in one of the videos I watched prior to jumping in. No regrets and I have bought essentially the same as you. Have at it!

It was on my list until I chose to back Hasbro's reproduction of Heroscape instead— one has to have priorities.
I'm still looking at the game, though I wasn't bowled over by the Orc vessel, which look more like half-sunken harbor hazards than viable ships.

I can't argue with your description Parzival. That's one of the reasons I'm looking forward to the Dwarves release later this month.

The Empire of Dust ships, which look pretty cool, are due in April or May.

I'm looking forward to painting the ships. It will be my first naval models in 30 years of gaming.

Given Mantic's strategy of more bang for the buck, I was hoping the minis would be cheaper and allow for larger fleets. There's also a lack of diversity among the ship offerings; it would be nice to see galleys made for ramming and boarding, bomb-ketches, wizards' ships, etc.

@Javelin, keep in mind, of Mantics dozen or so races they've only released ships for the Basileans & Orcs. And there 6x ship types for each race currently.

Dwarves are coming this month and the Empire of Dust in April or May.

Currently all ship classes can be upgraded which lends them some variety.

I would assume that once they get the basic ships done for 6-8 of their core races they may go back and release specialized ships for the earlier races (ie. Dreadnoughts, Submersibles, Airships, etc…).

That's enough diversity for me to spend the majority of 2021 working on this game!

Cool!

What size / scale are the ships?

I have a some models from the "Uncharted Seas" fantasy naval game (now OOP) and wondered about compatability.

The "Uncharted Seas" models are supposed to be 1:600 scale I believe.

Hollyhocks, I just received the basic game and haven't seen a ship scale noted anywhere yet.

The ships are really nicely made both in detail and in size. They feel chunky but not clunky if that makes sense.

I've heard the rules are basically a Fantasy version of Black Sails so the ships may be the same size as those ships.

Edit*

From Mantics Game Page:

"WHAT SCALE ARE THE BOATS?

We wanted to make sure the boats were packed with great details and character – plus because they're made in resin, we can ensure really crisp sculpts. As a result, the boats are very loosely the same size as Black Seas but a little more heroic. We've used the same size categories as Black Seas, however. You can see how they size up against a typical Kings of War figure below."
