"The United States sent 2.7 million men and women to South Vietnam to help preserve the Democratic Government of that nation. Nearly sixty thousand were killed and/or missing in action. Ignoring the truth concerning winning of that War is disrespectful and a slap in the face of those who served and a disgraceful epitaph to those who were killed and those still missing in action. For about ten years I have been trying to get this Nation to acknowledge the fact that the United States military won the Vietnam War. Unfortunately, I am not a politician, a movie star or leader of a large corporation. It seems that these are the only people who can get agendas through our government today. I have petitioned two presidents, one hundred senators, personally met with a senator and two congressional legislators to achieve justice for the Vietnam Veteran and declare January 27th as Victory Vietnam Day. To date there has been no results or explanation for the lack of action…" Main page link Amicalement Armand

Oh dear. Let's not rehash this. I skimmed the article – author looks like a crank with an axe to grind. |

The United States sent 2.7 million men and women to South Vietnam and had we sent them all at once with WWII era rules of engagement he may have a true story. Might make an interesting wargame, US invades N. Vietnam, circa 1966 with a 2 million man army. Mike Bunkermeister Creek Bunker Talk blog |

Some Americans at the time time did not realize that Vietnam was one of the most densely populated countries in the entire war. Few college students ever took cultural geography. So a quick victory, even without considering Chinese or Soviet Union intervention would have been difficult. |

Few in the USA could find Vietnam on a map. The reason or at least one of them for not invading North Vietnam was fear/concern of PRC/CCP involvement, e.g. as they did during the Korean War. And Yes, the PRC has nukes … always a consideration. |
