Zoom is a popular online meeting application, which can also be used for social interaction. Do you use it? * yes, for work only * yes, for miniature wargaming etc. |

I use it for a weekly chat with wargaming fiends in Singapore, The Philippines, Oz and NZ, and for occasional work quiz nights. Mostly use Skype and Teams for other work stuff. |

Yes: for work, for volunteer work, for family chats, and socializing with friends. We have also used it for virtual church attendance. Rick |

yes for work. Tried to use it to conduct Boy Scout meetings, didn't work too well. |

I participate in meetings at my church with Zoom. But that's te only use I make of it. Jim |

I've used Zoom occasionally. My wife uses it for her exercise classes. For gaming, I use Slack (friend has an account) or Discord. Slack works well. Discord seems to work well, but most of the other players have problems with it— though they also seem to have bad WiFi and Internet connections, so the problems may have little to do with Discord. |

I use to run virtual public hearings, various meetings, and more recently to game. Arofan Gregory's Lets Roll virtual gaming weekend was a big hit and ended yesterday. It worked very well. A few games used Discord, but the majority used Zoom. |

Yes, about once/week for virtual get-togethers with family and friends. Used it also to run the Call of Cthulhu games I game-master, but gave those up as much more work, and much less satisfying than face-to-face role-playing. |

Nope. My wife and i have our cameras and microphones covered with tape for obvious reasons in these troubled times. |

I do a Zoom Call with my brothers and sisters every other week. We have been doing this since the last week in March. My wife and I participate in a Zoom Call with our Bible Study group. We are all seniors and therefore have self isolated. We have not missed a bi weekly meeting since March. Terry |

Work only, and only if I can't weasel out of it. I hate zoom meetings. |
KSmyth | 21 Dec 2020 9:40 a.m. PST |
The NHMGS board meets monthly on Zoom. I have a role-playing group that meets weekly for Zoom. Haven't tried a miniatures game on Zoom. I have my doubts. |

I will add that the only gaming I do virtually/remotely are RPGs. For awhile the Slack group did some tactical skirmish combat using Pathfinder 2.0 rules (NOT recommended— horrible system—), and in the Discord group we've used Roll 20's virtual D&D battle maps (kludgy, but work okay). I really wouldn't want to use either for a full-bore miniatures game. For theatre-of-the-mind old school D&D (which the Slack group is doing now), they work pretty well— if we can get one player to stop rolling dice loudly while the rest of us are trying to talk. (Not a big issue, it's just that Slack will switch the image to the latest source of noise, without distinguishing between speech, dice rolling, or the family cat meowing.) |

No. I do real work that requires me to actually do things… |

For work only. I do game via Google Hangouts, Discord and Skype. I have a friend in one of my d&d games that will not use Zoom under any circumstances (he's an IT guy and feels that they are a huge security risk). |

Teaching through zoom right now. It's better than nothing, but too much of students (and me) getting kicked out of class. |

+1 The Nigerian Lead Minister. I prefer skype, although we use teams a fair bit too, |

I have a friend in one of my d&d games that will not use Zoom under any circumstances (he's an IT guy and feels that they are a huge security risk). I've heard that, too, as well as some recent things of concern. On the other hand, I don't know anything definitively, and it could just be the typical Internet chatter and rumor. And with any such a broad connection situation, anyone dealing with sensitive information is wise to be careful, no matter who the provider is. In any case, I don't think anybody's going to do much nefarious with a gaming session. |

Zoom every 2 weeks or so to catch up with my old university chums. Several each month for the committees and charities I'm on … and 3 or 4 times a month for talks, lectures and conferences. I've had a couple of games by zoom but I've not really taken to it. I'm heavily invested in the face-to-face wargame and though I really miss it, I'm using the time to paint for when wargaming can restart and using online facilities for meetings, friends and family, and learning. Fingers crossed for 2021 Phil |

I use Zoom daily for work, and weekly with my local group of 5 or so players. No mini games, just board games for now. |
Martin Rapier | 24 Dec 2020 1:02 a.m. PST |
We've switched to Zoom from Skype for our weekly remote gaming sessions. Works fine and much better video quality than some other offerings. Work is a Google shop and Zoom is banned due the security issues. Occasionally I'm am forced to use MS Teams, which is generally a dreadful experience. Google Meet has got a lot better, now it incorporates lots of Zoom features :) I'd prefer to be in the office with other people, but hey ho, I've been working remotely for ten months now, with several more to go it seems. |
