"With Google going haywire this morning, and news reports that a Russian hack of network firm SolarWinds could have compromised the Pentagon and other federal agencies, we've all gotten a sharp reminder of how vulnerable our high-tech world can be. That includes the US Army. So just imagine the worst day in the life of an Army base commander. In the midst of an international crisis, while his troops rush to train up, kit up, and deploy abroad – suddenly the lights go out. A cyber attack has fried the power plant in the small town outside the base, and the base itself doesn't have enough back-up generators to keep functioning at full capacity…" Main page link Amicalement Armand

We need to go asymmetrical on the perpetrators of these hacks, and fire off some cruise missiles to take the hackers out, and to send a strong message not to mess with the USA. In many, if not most cases, we know who and where they are. |

We have always planed in the Cold War for mainland bases to be attacked. Every base was evaluated depending on the facilities in the area. For example Anniston had a very high target rating. It was the home to a repair depot, a large chemical storage facility, Marine Reserve training center and Fort McCellen (sp) which had theMP school and Chemical school. |

I am sure we are working on countering this and responding in kind or worse. In many, if not most cases, we know who and where they are. And yes using cruise missiles, etc., to take out these hackers is an idea I like. However, the ever recurring problem of CD will come into the picture. But it may be worth it in most cases. If they don't like it … they can send a harshly worded email to the UN, World Court, etc. Of course we all know both of those agencies would do nothing of any effectiveness as usual. We also need to do all the other things like cutting aid, increasing sanctions, throwing out some from those nations, etc., etc. |

Im interested to know what you think what reaction you would get to these missile strikes. And presumably how the US and it's allies would react if their own cyber facilities were themselves hit by missiles from a country that they had targeted. Sauce for the goose….. |

Generally it would depend on the nation. However, I think you misunderstood what I was saying, or trying to. I said I'd like it but we'd have to be concerned as always about CD. But yes, it would be worth it in most cases. However at no time did I say we should/would do it. For obvious reasons … You start shooting missiles at most nations even surgically, it would be considered an act of war. Im interested to know what you think what reaction you would get to these missile strikes. So what do you think would happen ? Does anyone actually have to ask ? Guess so … I guess when posting I need to be clearer with my intentions, etc.,. And I thought my post in total much of it was hyperbole … Trash talking, talking smack, etc. I guess some who are not Americans don't understand that. I guess my somewhat dark sense of humor does not always translate well over the net. Or to those of from some other countries ? Sauce for the goose….. I don't like goose … too fatty … |
