The Italian version is called Chicken Cacciatore, and yes it is delicious, and I've had and made it a number of times.

Instead of cumin, you use Italian spices – oregono, basil, thyme, etc., etc.. The red pepper flakes make it really pop in the Italian version too.

We add chopped green bell pepper and onion too, plus 1/2 – 1 cup of white wine, like Chardonnay, etc., and use chicken breasts, or a whole chicken too.

Serve over a bed of pasta.

The sauce is never quite thick enough for me, so going to add some tomato paste next time I cook it for a richer sauce

Chicken cacciatore: weren't we just talking about how awesome Mediterranean food is in another topic?

My mom made this dish a lot when I was a kid. Huh. Maybe I'll make it for dinner during the holiday weeks. That will warm the house up.

That should read oregano – stupid fingers, bad, bad……

CC is one of those dishes that is actually better the next day, after the flavors have blended together well, so is great for leftovers.

Thresher01, I find that is true of a number of Italian dishes…best as leftovers.

Yep, beef stew and beefaroni are better as well a day or two later, in my opinion – both with tomato-based sauces too.

Don't leave them in the can though
