Yeah, but it's not the size of the ship in the fight, it's the amount of fight in the ship. The Yamato and Macross main cannons have the fire power to kill nearly every thing else there. And then in the anime Tenchi the Movie, Washu authorizes the use of a weapon called a "Dimensional cannon" which one character protests as it's used for taking out small galaxies. A weapon to be used against one alien entity with the power of a super nova.
