Finally got around to starting to re-base my AWI collection, bit of detail on the blog. Hopefully this will allow me to do both larger actions in Black Powder or similar and use the same figures for Sharp Practice.

Very nice.

I, too, am in the process of overhauling and rebasing my AWI collection.

Nice blog and nice painting.
Better to have you yourself present it here than…

A most excellent blog and I am happy to follow it.

Please! Include who's blog it is to give THEM credit for all their very hard work.

A very nice collection you have!

Well done in documenting the process. I reorganised and rebased my AWI armies about 7 years ago and the effort was definitely worth it.

I hope you have many more games with them.

WillBGoode09 Dec 2020 6:36 a.m. PST

I particularly like the round stands for skirmishers. Nice touch.

RogerC09 Dec 2020 1:09 p.m. PST

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys, just to be clear this is definately both my blog and my work on the figures. Should I assume that the comments are not really aimed at me?

John the OFM09 Dec 2020 1:16 p.m. PST

No. Definitely not at you. Good work.

WillBGoode09 Dec 2020 7:13 p.m. PST

Roger you do excellent work and you have a collection to be very proud of.

RogerC11 Dec 2020 3:32 p.m. PST

Thanks very much chaps. Will share when the basing is completed.

WillBGoode11 Dec 2020 4:24 p.m. PST

Looking forward to it! I am thinking about some additional re basing myself inspired by your work. Many thanks for posting!

epturner12 Dec 2020 7:05 a.m. PST

Also looking forward to seeing how your collection looks once you've completed rebasing.

Thanks guys watch this space.

I am a little stumped Roger. In linear warfare base depth is almost always too great. Except when the figures are marching in column this seldom impacts the game. To me the critical variable in linear warfare rules is the per figure frontage. Your figures seem to be holding a constant 17mm per figure front under the old and the new basing method. So is the problem that the rules aren't flexible enough to allow for six figure bases rather than four?

RogerC12 Dec 2020 10:55 a.m. PST

In short yes. Sharp Practice our go to for this period is units of 8 figures, bases of 6 simply dont work. Add this to my other chums all switching to this specific basing method and it makes sense to make the changes.

Thanks for the clarification.
