Planning the next sale and I was going thru the pile and found a copy of the old Hardtack rules.

As always, I did a lookup on E-bay and found two entries:

auction

and

auction

Wow.

Those are BARGAINS. Check this out:

Hmm. I seem to be missing the offers on those. Doubtless my error.

Glengarry502 Dec 2020 3:34 p.m. PST

I think I have a copy of Hardtack in a box in my closet.

Yes and as we all Know, price is a factor in Supply and demand. 1970's Game items have very low Print run and a steady demand. So you cant either price it like the three listings or undercut them and laugh all the way to the bank. Because sometime is only worth what you sell it for.

Hardtack was the first set of miniature rules I bought back in my college days (early 1970's). I still have it and cannot believe this pricing.

I just checked and Noble Knight Games has a copy for close to the same price. Good lord!

Col Durnford02 Dec 2020 8:49 p.m. PST

Noble Knight pricing is alway a little high for anything collectible.

Now to find my copies of both hardtack and chain mail. I'll sell them for half of what they're going for now. Of course they aren't really going anywhere are they?

Those have been listed and re-listed too many times for me to count. Same book/same sellers. So unless you'll wait years, no, ain't gonna fund an army that way…

with Extra Crispy – The EBay price is often the price that the item hasn't sold for over the course of years.

OMGosh!

Col Durnford03 Dec 2020 1:50 p.m. PST

No doubt the high price is due to the inclusion of the painting guide. :)

You know the rest of the equation

What Mark said. I have watched a D&D Red Dragon figure relist for over a year for $750. USD Sold the same for $500 USD in less than a week – which is what all the recent sales were around. Look for the completed sales if you are thinking of selling.

John the OFM05 Dec 2020 7:20 a.m. PST

Make an offer for $25 USD, and tell them that's all you're willing to pay. See what happens.

What someone is asking on eBay is no indication of what it's worth. The true indication is what someone is willing to pay.

List yours for $25. USD See how long it takes to sell, and if you have any takers. After all, you're willing to sell it anyway. See what it will sell for. Be sure to tell TMP buyers.

The true indication is what someone is willing to pay.

Well, it only tells you what that one buyer was willing to pay. It doesn't guarantee that the next buyer will pay the same.
