Anyone considering the late medieval period (15th c.) may want to give the Low Countries a try.
Researching the events of the major dynastic families within the Holy Roman Empire brought my focus to the Low Countries followed by a quick review the army sub-list IV/57c.
From a historical perspective, collecting all the duchies and counties under one sub-list seems a somewhat of a stretch, nonetheless, one should give careful consideration to the actual conflicts when thinking about writing a scenario or developing a campaign.

Some thoughts with sources are posted to the blog.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and info.

I have been interested in them for a while now, after seeing some of the superbly painted, Low Countries armies in 15mm, and knowing they could fight as either allies or opponents of those to their south and east.

What additional troop types do you suggest other than the cavalry, for them?

I see you mentioning infantry, but it appears mercs would be more likely than home-grown units for these.

I like and agree with your thoughts on the additional terrain options.

I am still scratching the surface here as investigating each revolt, siege and civil war brings something different.

In general, as Philip the Good (1419 – 1467) enlarged his holdings in the Low Countries, one notices a division among its inhabitants forming a pro-Burgundian faction (nobles) and the urban population (guilds and at times the provincial nobles). The advantages held by the urban population were not unlike those of Northern Germany of the same period.

See ‘Cities and Towns' topic posted earlier to the blog.

Not sure about ‘new' troop types, but most urban centres would have foundries capable of producing handguns and light artillery.
