I am researching an ancestor William Linsell (1822-1888) who served in the 70th Foot Regiment(Surrey) from 1839-1861 – which includes the Indian Mutiny(married in Bengal) he also served in Ireland (one of his children was born there) who became a Sergeant after 21 years service and left with 5 good conduct Medals etc What are the best sources for finding the movement dates of this Regiment and action/Battles he may have been in the Regiment band) ended he's days as Bandmaster, cheers |

After the fire at Clandon Park, all the Surrey Regiment records are held at the Surrey History Centre in Woking. You are probably best enquiring with them: Email: shs@surreycc.gov.uk Website: link Mike |
