The board is made with left-over Platformer pieces and odds & ends on a 24" x 24" piece of MDF. The figs are GZG Xenomorphs and New Israeli troopers. I playtested the first draft of some basic rules this past weekend with my youngest son and it worked out pretty well.

Very cool i like the fact that is only a 24" square area. not too bad for storage.

Matakishi26 Sep 2005 3:19 p.m. PST

I like this it's self contained, focused and nicely put together.

It's so good I can even forgive you for it not being 25/28mm :)

You could trench under the MDF and put small lights sticking up in several places and play in the dark….:)

Finally pictures of xenomorphs! A thousand thank yous!

Privateer4hire26 Sep 2005 7:04 p.m. PST

A second to Augustus' gratitude. Hoping these don't go the route of SG-esque minis. Excellent work on your project.

Thanks for the kind words all. Anyone have any ideas for 15mm tech bitz? Computers, machinery, isolated items like that? Or is it kit-bash time from old models? I still have the xeno egg clusters to finish. They are the game objectives, scattered at random on the board. The troopers have to eliminate them, while the xenos try to protect them.

I wanted it to remain more open for ease of play, esp with 15mm pieces. But a bit more detail wouldn't hurt.

In the dark? little LEDs winking on/off…

"It's right behind you!"

Very nice, you ought to try posing those aliens a bit, I'm sure they'd flex fairly easy.

Glenn M26 Sep 2005 7:44 p.m. PST

Ah, and for misc bits, try kitbashing some of teh Mechwarrior Mining mechs and such, I am sure that in 15mm, they'd look like oversized power suits, smash them up a bit for movable rubble. AND it'd be cheap because no body likes those mechs.

Yeah and rip apart an old Motherboard and glue teh parts onto plasticard, then paint. They'd make fine bits and such that can be moved.

Purdy!!! :)

What figures are you using?

GeoffQRF26 Sep 2005 11:07 p.m. PST

They are GZG Xenomorphs and New Israeli troopers :-)

QRF also have 15mm Aliens in other poses

Ironwolf27 Sep 2005 12:15 a.m. PST

Very nice. I use the NEw Israeli armored troops for my MI starship troopers. Then use Pendraken 10mm bugs for well the bugs… I'll have to order me some of the xenomorphs so I can do some Colonial Marines game.

Landorl27 Sep 2005 5:51 a.m. PST

That is a great looking setup, and the size would be perfect for a fun 15mm game

Not too much to pose on them I'm afraid. Maybe waving their arms a bit I suppose. The QRF ones look nice too.

Who carries those QRF aliens in the US? including the queen?

GeoffQRF27 Sep 2005 10:39 a.m. PST

Wargames Inc – speartorifle.com

You know that Frei Korps has an ALIENS line as well. They do civilians, Ripley, face huggers, Colonial Marines, Predators, two sizes of aliens and an Alien Queen.

Thanks,

John

The SciFi line isn't listed on that site. Or am I missing it?

GeoffQRF27 Sep 2005 11:23 p.m. PST

A little clarification.

QRF merged with LKM and became LKM Direct Limited. At the same time we purchased Freikorps.

For ease of marketing and control, we remarketed the names with easier defined branding, thus Freikorps15 now covers all figures from 1485 to 1900, and QRF covers all figures after 1900.

Consequently, the QRF sci-fi figures are actually the former Freikorps range, and include the list John L has given above.

Hi,

It looks as if your figures are based on washers…

*** What size washers did you use? ***

Those are 15mm GZG figs and cast on. You were asking me, correct?

Now I'm looking at a box of old resin Kryomek scenery peices and thinking about a 24" x 24" Hive section…

Sky Captain28 Sep 2005 12:52 p.m. PST

Does anyone do a decent 25mm ALIEN?

GeoffQRF28 Sep 2005 3:35 p.m. PST

ERM have a 20mm alien
