I have a collection of OG Austrians for 1809 but I notice that their Fuhrwesen figures (on the Artillery limber horses) are in Shakos. Shakos, according to Dave Hollins, were most likely introduced at the same time as they were for the infantry, which means they were probably still mostly wearing the Corsehut – there are some illustrated still wearing it in 1813. Now I see that Blue Moon have these in the Corsehut but I wonder about the size difference between manufacturers.I'm reasonably tolerant in this regard (people vary in size a lot) as long as equipment scale doesn't start to look weird. Alternatively, is there another figure option? Can anyone enlighten me? Secondly, I remember once seeing posted here a beautiful 25mm model of an Austrian pontoon wagon and boat. Does anyone make a 15/18mm model or is this a scratch building job? Thanks, John |

For the Fuhrwesen the Corsehut was the rule and the Tschako the exception (only introduced for one unit as an experiment. But the well known Ottenfeld plate showing a Traineur in Tschako gave many – me included – the impression of those guys always in Tschako. |

Minifigs do a 15mm pontoon wagon which they claim is generic/multi-national. Whether it bears any resemblance to Austrian versions I know not. |

I have OG SYW and they are on the bigger side of 15mm. If the Napoleonic range is similar, then Blue moon figures should be fine in terms of size, although a rather different style of sculpt. |

Thanks for the replies so far. I looked at the minifigs model and it just doesn't look quite right compared to link (assuming that this is accurate – it certainly looks very cool). I want to have a wagon with the boat on and (probably Blue Moon's) engineer's wagon with the planks. Then also some pontoons at waterline to set up the bridge in position. The next issue then is where I would get wheels. I know there was a place that sold wheels (I may have even inquired about it before) but if so I've lost the link. Regarding the sculpting style of Blue Moon being different to OG, I don't think that will matter to me. Often different manufacturers mix OK once they're painted anyway and OG always seem to paint up better than you'd expect, looking at them out of the bag. To me they look good anyway. Cheers, John |
