My latest contribution to thomaspicton's Waterloo diorama project. I somehow got landed with Prussian cavalry and have quite taken to them (even in 20mm scale!). This group of 27 takes my total to 147, I have just worked out, a fraction of what is needed.

I wanted something different, so went for Neumark Landwehr cavalry. They are often (but not universally) shown in a British stovepipe shako, or at least the first regiment is. Late on I learnt that the second wore the Prussian shako and was much more heavily engaged. Head swaps from Prussian Landwehr infantry proved a lengthy task and I had used up all the best cast heads anyway. The result is a compromise then, 1st and 2nd Neumark Landwehr cavalry (IV Corps both)!

Must thank all who advised on uniforms in my earlier posting. Much evidence for a paler blue Litewka, as for dragoons, so I asked the boss for his preference. We agreed to stick with what folk expect to see on Landwehr. Hope you like them….counting on it! Now they go off in HM's postal service.

I'll let the boss answer that!

I do know that it has taken off lately, with folk putting in hundreds at a time.

It is highly ambitious and planned on a massive scale (both for the field and the 1/72 scale participants).

Thanks all. The comments are much appreciated. I have also sent a PM to SHaT1984. Thanks to his comments about an earlier lot of Elbe Landwehr,

I did the pipes in a lighter colour now and tried to make the brass studs holding the lance pennants that bit smaller. That still meant 72 black dots followed by 72 gold dots superimposed. If you then add the overall and litewka buttons on 24 characters and three "command" figures….I must be mad.

1st Uhlans ordered from Art Min now. Next project!
