Because I am DEFINATELY going to start painting these in the next 12 hours/days/weeks/months/years/lifetimes…

please confirm – the Army of Italy that served as part of the Grande Armee in 1809, including at Wagram are the Italians wearing the green uniforms, so they look like French but in green, and NOT the ones in white who look a bit Austrian?

Thanks

Sorry to disappoint you but the line infantry were in white. Guard and light wore green as did the cavalry and artillery. Have a look at the Napitalia site.

I'm not disappointed – I just want to get it right! And white is a lot easier.

I berlieve the Italian never went to the BArdin-type 1812 uniform – Line infantry always in the long-tailed, cut-away coat as for the French.

Lights looked like French lights, but in dark green.

"And white is a lot easier."
Ummmmmmmmm… NO, it isn't if done right.

Was not the 1809 campaign the one where the French line infantry wore white as well?

White uniform was issued in 1807. Some units in Peninsular war had them…maybe 1809 but would have to check.

White is easier depending on what you are painting.
